Balance, a former hair salon at 2412 East Colfax Avenue, has fallen by the wayside, but the space, the interior of which is bright purple and psychedelic green (at least for now), has been snapped by Maxwell Hopewell-Arizmendi and Yukihiko Koyama, who plan to open Cafe Max. And while a cafe typically signifies jolts of java, the liquor-license application sign pasted to the window signals that the joint, which appears to be under construction, will pour wine, beer and liquor.
A date with the Department of Excise and Licenses is scheduled at the Wellington Webb building on August 24 for a 9 a.m. hearing. And since this is an East Colfax address, where restaurants, bars, and restaurants with bars nearly outnumber the long-legged hookers strutting the sidewalk, the hearing should go off without a hitch.
