Guitarist Wendy Woo, Sunday, April 16, at the Fox Theatre, is among a handful of local musicians who regularly perform together in the “Women From Mars” series — where possessing the Y chromosome is a secondary requirement to being talented. The series, sponsored by KWAB radio and organized by Woo, offers usually free, usually acoustic lineups of women artists who toil in the singer-songwriter realm. This Sunday, Woo will be joined by vocalists/guitarists Sherri Jackson, Lisa from Zuba and Junis Ponds. Marca Cassity, who will release a new, self-titled CD at the show, will also perform. “Women From Mars” resembles your typical ladies’ night only in that it’s definitely the women who will be calling the shots.
