New Belgium Brewing’s Clips of Faith Beer and Film Tour comes to Boulder tonight, featuring dozens of film shorts between ten seconds and ten minutes long. “The whimsical films have a focus on sustainability and/or craft beer, and it’s a nice way of celebrating both creative filmmaking and creative beer-making,” says Bryan Simpson, spokesman for the Fort Collins-based brewery. “There’s comedy, there’s documentary, there are some great animated films, and many of them are quite moving.

“It was a good year for Colorado filmmakers in the contest, including four of the featured films and a top-three contender,” he adds.

The film shorts will be screened in two forty-minute segments, with beer tastings and a competitive drink-off in between. (The focus will be on the brewery’s small-batch Lips of Faith beers, including La Folie, Le Terroir, Dunkelweiss and Sahti Ale.) “The winner of the drink-off gets a trip to the brewery to brew their own beer,” Simpson says. “And it’s all for a good cause: We’ll be raising money through beer sales for Boulder’s Community Cycles, to help refurbish bikes for their community programs like Youth Earn-a-Bike, a cool six-week program where kids can come work in the shop, learn to build a bike, and leave with some new wheels of their own.”

The free outdoor screenings begin at 7:30 p.m. in Central Park at 13th Street. For more information, visit www.clipsoffaith.com.
