I have always judged places by certain things. A doctor’s office gets kudos if they have good fashion magazines. I won’t go to a nightclub if the name is a one-syllable noun. And I have never had my hair cut at a salon with a title I didn’t approve of. I think this fear stems from my childhood when I got my ‘do styled at a place called The Third Dimension because I thought the name was sooo cool and I ended up with a mullet for the next four years.

So when I heard there was a salon called Big Hairy Monster, I had to check it out. Located at 3105 East Colfax, Big Hairy Monster is the epitome of a cool name equaling a cool place. Denver hair veterans Suzanne Magnuson and Christi Lagaurdia offer hair and waxing services for both sexes, and if you’re in the mood to shop you are in the right place because the salon is situated in The Fabric Lab, possibly one of the coolest boutiques in Denver. Call them at 303-321-3604 to make an appointment, or e-mail thebighairymonster@yahoo.com for more information.
