Saturday was a great day for a St. Patrick’s Day parade, as our slideshow of the festivities demonstrates. But there were several highlights of the spectacle that somehow managed to evade photog Aaron Thackeray’s lens.
For instance? Mayor John Hickenlooper weaving Blake Street near the beginning of the route looking either confused or three sheets to the wind; a group of Star Wars aficionados highlighted by Imperial Stormtroopers wearing kilts; and, most amusingly, a brief look at longhorn love.
Yes, a group of around ten longhorn cattle were one of the attractions, and a momentary backup forced them to stop right in front of me — at which point one took advantage by mounting another. That prompted a bemused “OOOOH!” from the crowd, followed by an awkward explanation or two by parents of young children, who got an eyeful before the longhorns’ handler managed to perform a quick act of coitus interruptus.
Only in Denver. Happy St. Pat’s, everybody!
