I’m in love with a stripper (radio station). Cue the medieval flute-sounding music. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, allow T-Pain to school you.)
I was driving in my car this afternoon, and I got a text from a friend of mine. (Don’t worry. I didn’t holler back at him while operating my vehicle. That’d be illegal.) He asked if I was in the car and then told me to tune in to 101.5 FM. “Shotgun Willie’s is on the radio,” he said. “Stripper music.”
Sure enough. I spun my tuner knob and when it landed on 101.5 — formerly Indie 101.5, an indie rock station that’s now moved online to Indie303.com — Ginuwine’s “Pony” came blaring out of the speakers. And that’s one stripper-y song. Sample lyric: “If you’re horny, let’s do it/ride it, my pony/my saddle’s waiting/come and jump on it.”
And that was just the beginning. For the remaining fifteen minutes of my car ride, I was treated to a cornucopia of strippin’ songs, including The Divinyls’ “I Touch Myself,” Freak Nasty’s “Da Dip” and “Bawitdaba” by Kid Rock.

In between the songs, a velvety-voiced gentleman came on to tell me that I was listening to “101.5, The Pole, Greased up by Shotgun Willie’s.” There were also testimonials from strippers, the particulars of which I can’t remember exactly. But one had to do with a basketful of kittens.
So, is this a joke? A stunt? It’s unclear for now, especially since the station’s official website — 1015thepole.com — is temporarily offline “due to overwhelming traffic to the site.”
Cue the medieval flutes.
