In the past week, metal thieves have been working hard. The likes of Richard Goodface and Duane Brown, have allegedly been stealing the cast-iron metal storm grates for meager recycling money. Others have stolen the metal vases off of gravesites at cemeteries in Denver, Golden and Wheat Ridge.

That’s annoying and pathetic. It’s also expensive for taxpayers and emotionally painful for mourners.

But for every piece of metal that is sold, there is someone willing to buy it.

And the people who do are just as shmucky as the thieves themselves.
