Rarely do we stop to think how cool evolution actually is — particularly in the smallest sense. Sure, Earth as a whole is an amazing place, but it’s often those minute evolutionary quirks that allowed each creature to chisel out a unique niche. Whether it’s a hypersensitive eye or a crazy shooting tongue, even the most commonplace bugs and animals are perfectly adapted machines reacting to environmental stimuli.
On view at the Wildlife Experience, 10035 South Peoria Street in Parker, Robot Zoo is an opportunity to see Mother Nature as an engineer. Use a joystick to aim and fire a mechanical chameleon tongue, stand behind the cutout of twenty-foot fly eyes, don a wall-matching coat and watch yourself disappear on a monitor, and climb up an incline with sticky hands and knee pads.
