Duane Evarts, who owns a custom-made guitar that once belonged to Ted McCarty — designer of the Les Paul and Flying V — was looking for the right place to do business with other custom-guitar collectors. “I had some instruments that I wanted to sell, and there wasn’t a guitar show happening in the area,” he says. So Evarts decided to create one himself.
After reaching out to luthiers across Colorado and building a base of vendors, the Douglas County Guitar Show was born as a one-stop shop where vintage guitar collectors and music-gear heads can buy, sell and trade specialty instruments, accessories and quality equipment.
A brand-new Austin AA20DEC acoustic guitar will be given away to one lucky shopper at the expo, which runs today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lutheran High School, 11249 Newlin Gulch Boulevard in Parker. For the best selection of guitars, cop a 9 a.m. early-bird ticket for $6. The admission price goes down to $4 after 10 a.m.; children under twelve get in free with a paying adult.
