This time of year, I have two goals: finding unique holiday gifts for my family and friends, and sampling all of the comfort foods of the season. Luckily for me, today’s Mission Wear Christmas Bazaar provides ample opportunity for both — plus, I’ll get to feel a little altruistic about my indulgences.
Mission Wear is a local nonprofit dedicated to helping the environment (the group is best known for its reusable shopping bags), as well as training and employing female ex-convicts who have trouble gaining employment elsewhere. The Mission Wear Bazaar will feature jewelry, local artisan work and even chair massages for those feeling particularly harried by the holiday hoopla.
Admission to the bazaar, which runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Temple Event Center, 1595 Pearl Street, is just $1 and includes hot apple cider and holiday treats. For information, call 303-808-7538 or visit www.themissionwear.org.
