Artist Anna-Karin is all about the light in New Mexico. She left her home on the Baltic Sea to travel the world, and when she got to the Land of Enchantment, she was captivated by the Southwestern splendor. Ever since, she’s been using vibrant color to paint dramatic landscapes and figures in a style that’s not quite Taos and not quite Baltic, but an interesting melding of both.

Get illuminated at Anna-Karin’s Denver debut, Take the High Road, which opens tonight with an artist’s reception from 6 to 11 p.m. at Orange Cat Studios, 2625 Larimer Street. The show runs through November 24; find information and gallery hours at www.orangecatstudios.com or 303-246-8224.
Fri., July 13, 6 p.m.-midnight; Sat., July 14, 4 p.m.-midnight
