Tackling what it means to be a small-business owner in Colorado in 2013, Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Center for Innovation will host the first “Own It” Community Festival today, a celebration focused on defining entrepreneurship.
From local bands to fashion designers and dance troupes, all of the participants in the free showcase represent a different aspect of small business. “The whole idea is that anyone who is a part of this event with us is a small-business owner to some extent,” says Cindy Busch, festival director and assistant director for the Center for Innovation.
The fest includes fashion shows featuring the styles from the Denver Fashion Truck, Equillibrium and designer Stephanie O., along with a performance from Tetra Incendia dance troupe and live music from Vices I Admire, the Original Bunny Gang and more.
The “Own It” Community Festival is free and runs from 4 to 10 p.m. today in the courtyard of MSU’s Student Success Building, 890 Auraria Parkway on the Auraria campus. For a complete lineup of performers and a schedule of events, go to metrostateinnovate.org or call 303-352-7274.
