Occupy Denver’s tent city was dismantled just after 3 a.m. today — and Westword’s Jenn Wohletz was on the scene before and after the authorities moved in. For instance, she saw the arrests of staffers who’ve been manning the site’s kitchen, dubbed the Thunderdome. Page through below to see her…
Editor’s note: Kelsey Whipple was at the scene of the former Occupy Denver tent city this morning. She phoned in updates. Update: As we broke from the scene, one protester sat reading Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s The Gulag Archipelago while a drive-by supporter blasted Smashing Pumpkins’ “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” out his…

This dispensary has closed. It wasn’t my intent to re-review Golden Alternative Care, or any shop, this week. But I found myself out in the neighborhood after a trip up into the foothills to catch the aspens changing and wanted a joint or two for my ride home. And to…
In this week’s cover story, “Feed Me,” I tell my totally true, slightly embarrassing story of getting a late-night parking ticket in LoDo. What started as a joyful night of karaoke glory ended with an angry little yellow envelope, thanks to new city parking rules. And I know I’m not…
One of the guilty pleasures here at the Crime & Punishment Desk is occasionally visiting the madness on display at The Real Colorado Department of Corrections, an anonymous blog by someone calling himself Thomas Paine. Mr. Paine apparently worked for DOC long enough to acquire a vast trove of unintentionally…
Denver blog posts are very careful not to camp overnight. Mile High Mamas’ Heather Ruch realizes that when she began homeschooling, she signed on for uncertainty. Mile High Hockey’s David Driscoll-Carignan’s Avs-Senators preview proves the Broncos aren’t the only game in town. Free Colorado’s Ari Armstrong promotes the Ayn Rand…
The legal maneuverings continue in the case of Joshua Carrier, a former Colorado Springs cop who’s charged with nearly 200 incidents of sexual assault on children. He had easy access to kids, given that he was a school resource officer and volunteer wrestling coach…

How to take the Tim Tebow hype to the next level? Call in a professional. That’s what SportsNation’s Colin Cowherd and Michelle Beadle did when they turned to Hulk Hogan, who went into one of his trademark rants before ripping a Tebow jersey to shreds. If the media overload is…
Our post about the I’m a Mormon billboard campaign in Denver has spurred some intriguing theological back and forth. Here’s the take of a reader who places what she sees as discrimination against Mormons in a historical context, using the name of someone who’s already history…
