Number 46: Amarena cherries and chocolate from Sketch

While the wreath of cherries and little mound of chocolate shards may seem unassuming, the marriage of the two creates a flavor punch that’s something to experience. Sketch imports the Amarena cherries from Italy, where the fruit takes a long soak in grappa, which is then strained, reduced to a syrup and added back to the cherries. The result is rich indulgence, further bolstered by pairing the cherries wth 70% El Rey Venezuelan chocolate–an earthy and robust contrast to the fruit’s sweetness. The only downside (or upside, depending upon how you look at it) to this dessert is that you’ll likely order more than one, especially if you’re pouring on the wine.
