I’ve long been a proponent of Steuben’s house-cut, judiciously salted, pencil-thin fries, which arrive in a wax paper-lined crab tin. Now comes news that the retro American diner at 523 East 17th Avenue will be handing out free orders of fries with every take-out purchase during the month of April.
A side of fries here would normally flatten your wallet by three bucks. You could pocket your savings — but instead, why not give back to the hand that feeds you and fulfill your sugar fantasies with a chocolate cupcake or soft serve ice cream cone? At $3 each, dessert’s a wash, plus it’s worth it when some hot curbside attendant delivers your order straight to your car window. Oh, baby.
