I stopped by Hi*Rise yesterday, hoping to grab a sandwich, but as the sign in the window promised, March 14 was the opening day — “Seriously.”

Owner Doug Anderson said his place will definitely open at 6 a.m. this morning. And Hi*Rise will be much more than a bakery — although it will bake its own bread. Open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, it will also be a fast breakfast joint, a lunch destination and, from its spot right at the corner of 22nd and Larimer streets, a good hangout in a fast-changing neighborhood.

So if you’re stuck in a long breakfast line at Snooze today, take a quick break and check out the new kid down the block.
