Beginning today and continuing through August 23, The Capital Grille, the terrific steakhouse at 1450 Larimer Street, is uncorking a six-week Master Wine Tasting event, whereby 12 different South African and Napa Valley wines, all selected by George Milotes, the cow palace’s corporate Master Sommelier, will be available for $10 per person at lunch and $25 at dinner.
Curious about the wines? Here’s what’s being poured: Beringer sauvignon blanc; Beringer Private Reserve chardonnay; Beringer Private Reserve cabernet sauvignon; Beringer Third Century syrah; Beringer Third Century pinot noir; Raats Original chenin blanc; Thelema chardonnay; Mulderbosch rosé Rustenberg John X Merriman; Brampton Shiraz; and Kanonkop Kadette
If there’s a thorn in the grape, it’s this: To participate in the wine tastings, you have to make an additional food purchase. Fine, make mine the bone-in rib-eye, mid-rare, with sides of au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. Oh…and I wouldn’t mind a few of those killer steak knives to go.
For more info on the wines, call 303-359-2500, or go to www.thecapitalgrille.com.
