The Source opened its doors in late August 2013 for customers of its first restaurant, Comida Cantina. A month later Acorn set up shop, joined by a warehouse full of other businesses, many of which peddle fresh-made or packaged specialty food and beverages — think coffee, beer, bread and beef. Videographer Andrew Batemen went to the source — developer Kyle Zeppelin — as well as a few of the shop owners to get their opinions about the Source’s first year in business, which was officially celebrated this past weekend.

Although several offices and retail services have made the Source home, the majority of the vendors offer a variety of artisan eats and drinks: Crooked Stave‘s tap room, the Proper Pour liquor store, Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe, Boxcar Coffee, Babette’s Artisan Breads and Mondo Market.

And with the RiNo Yacht Club opening in the Source’s central bar, the retails spaces at the industrial-chic shopping center are now full up, making it one of Denver’s hottest food and beverage destinations.

The Yacht Club serves creative cocktails and a carefully curated wine and beer list, along with a menu of small plates provided by Acorn. Also new is the light sculpture by artist Evan Mann above the bar: a computer-controlled matrix of 1,400 LED lights hung in a grid that can display three-dimensional moving images.
