Denverites should be well acquainted with DJ Fury (aka Steve Blakely) by now. The local drum-and-bass phenomenon has been spinning his addictive blend of jungle with smooth, deep bass and tapping drums for two decades; in an era in which simple, driving beats are the popular choice, it’s refreshing to hear talent that can match a syncopated rhythm with skill and ease — and even draw trance-heads to the DNB dance floor. Fury is still promoting and spinning at the nationally renowned Reload series of events that he made famous — look for a Planet of the Drums version coming up in March — but on Wednesday, February 16, he’ll be followed by some heavy guitar lines and other live instrumentals from crossover drum-and-bass-cum-industrial-rock act Pendulum and the rock/electro outfit Innerpartysystem at the Ogden Theatre. Blakely is certain to get the crowd primed for a night of genre-bending rocking out.
