When Sleeper Horse broke up, it was a sad day for Denver music. The act’s brand of heavy-duty musical brutality and adrenaline-fueled live shows earned accolades in the short time it existed, and to see the group fall apart before it could fulfill the awesome potential they displayed was a true bummer. A big part of the band’s draw was the charisma, stage presence and talent of frontman Mike Herrera. We just got word that Mr. Herrera is in a new band called the Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill. The band has a MySpace set up, but no tunes on it yet, so it’s hard to say what it’ll sound like. Here’s what we do know: the outfit’s being led Herrera, it has a kick-ass name borrowed from one of the best segments of Creepshow, and the great sketch illustrating this post was in the pictures section. That’s more than enough to pique our curosity.
