Icicle spins February 4 at Cervantes’

Jeroen Snik, better known as Icicle, is based out of London these days, but he began his musical career in Holland. He started playing piano when he was eight, then quickly moved on to a drum kit and eventually a MIDI setup for beatmaking. When Snik was fifteen, a local club night called Jungle Galaxy turned him on to drum-and-bass, and he was on the way to his future. Icicle’s sound reflects his name: crisp and cool, but with a sharp edge that keeps things interesting. His bass lines are dark and dirty, and he favors intricate, layered drum patterns; the overall effect is a compelling mix of clean, intelligent drum-and-bass with deep, vibrating bass lines mined from the darkest corners of the genre. Icicle’s also been known to drop minimalist techno sets, but considering that he’ll be spinning with Caustik, Goreteks vs. Automated Prayer and Dayquill on Saturday, February 4, at Cervantes’ Other Side, we predict it’ll be the dirty drum-and-bass that he leans on for your dancing pleasure.
