Yesterday, our sister paper in New York, The Village Voice, revealed the results of Pazz & Jop 2013. For more than four decades, the expansive critic’s poll has ranked the best releases each year based upon the input of music scribes from all across the country. This year, Kanye West unanimously claimed the top spot with Yeezus, his latest album; it’s the fourth time in his career that he’s held such a distinction.

Kanye’s platter was followed by the latest from Vampire Weekend and a slew of other releases, including John Grant’s Pale Green Ghosts, Gregory Alan Isakov’s The Weatherman and René Marie’s I Wanna Be Evil: With Love to Eartha Kitt. Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” meanwhile, was the top single, followed by a litany of other tracks, including “Ho Hey” by the Lumineers and more.
