On Whiskey Tonight, their seventh album, the Indulgers, led by vocalist/multi-instrumentalists Damien McCarron and Mike Nile, step things up a bit, injecting a considerable amount of vigor into many of the fourteen original cuts, particularly the buoyant “It’s You” and “Doin’ Fine,” an instrumental. Drummer Francesco Mannone’s tom-heavy tribal beats fuel “Ceili Mor” and “Lady Jane,” while “Roll the Stone” treads the line between country and Celtic and “The Cure” tips a hat to the Pogues. Guitarist Neale Haywood, a touring member of Fleetwood Mac and a member of Lindsey Buckingham’s band, guests on what is arguably the Indulgers’ finest album to date.
