Fans of the venerable Garry Trudeau strip “Doonesbury” who get their daily dose online know that each offering is accompanied by a feature called “Say What?” — a comically embarrassing quote from a public figure.
Trudeau is best known for whacking the vernacular of conservatives like George W. Bush, whose twisted comments filled panel after panel during his time in the White House. But he can be a bipartisan ridiculer, as he proved yesterday when putting the spotlight of shame on this line from Colorado’s guv, Democrat Bill Ritter: “There are kids who are obese in this state who are going to school hungry.”
That kind of recognition is good enough to eat.
