Get the skinny on new sets.

Still dealing with that post-Democratic National Convention hangover? There’s another huge national event in town this week that should help ease you back to normalcy: The CEDIA EXPO, a bash running through September 7 at the Colorado Convention Center. The event, sponsored by the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association, is ending a three-year run in Denver, having outgrown the space available — so this is your last chance to see the latest electronic gadgets first. The pricetag isn’t cheap: A CEDIA rep says daily admittance for the general public is a hefty $60. But at least you’ll be able to scrutinize items like the full line of Hitachi Plasma Display Panels, which are just an inch and a half thick. Sure, Dems enjoyed staring at Barack Obama — but when they lock eyes with one of these babies, they may consider switching allegiances. — Michael Roberts
