Whenever I suggest a book for the city’s One Book, One Denver program, it seems doomed.

But my jinx worked just fine for David Wroblewski, a local author whose first novel, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, was just picked as the next selection for Oprah’s Book Club. Even though the book, which was published in June, isn’t yet out in paperback — a requirement for Denver’s program. And even though it tops out at more than 500 pages — another no-no for Denver.
