Dixie Elixirs, a Denver-based marijuana edibles company, recently announced that it has settled a dispute with a California company with which it previously partnered to produce Dixie Botanicals, a line of hemp oil products that includes tinctures and balms.
Under the terms of the settlement, the California company, Medical Marijuana Inc., will take over the hemp-derived Dixie Botanicals (after a ninety-day transition period), leaving Dixie to “develop and expand” its lines of THC-infused products.
“From a consumer perspective, there won’t be a difference,” says Dixie spokesman Joe Hodas. “This is more a question of two companies dissolving a partnership.”
Dixie, however, is still embroiled in a dispute involving the inventor of MED-a-Mints, a popular THC mint candy. The inventor, Gary Gabrel, claims that Dixie violated the contract between them when it changed the MED-a-Mints packaging, making its own name more prominent and removing the words “cannabis infused.”
