Last week, an e-mail string inadvertently sent to the press by a member of Michael Bennet’s staff suggested that the senate appointee sees fellow Democrat Mark Udall as something of a rival. But that didn’t stop him from joining Udall and a group of eight other freshman senators to deliver pro-healthcare-reform speeches in Congress this week. Above, see Udall’s five minutes, in which he talks about finding common ground using the typical arguments — like that the cost of inaction is too high. That may be so, but his droning approach is unlikely to break the logjam reform opponents have succeeded at constructing over recent months. He probably would’ve been better off simply yelling “You lie!” at Joe Wilson and leaving it at that.
