Was Parris Mathis immune to marijuana’s well-known calming effects? You’ve gotta wonder given the police release about his arrest. Seems he got into an argument with a woman for “sitting on the stairwell” (!), and when a man tried to intervene, he allegedly pummeled both of them with a “Native American spiritual stick.”
Then, when cops busted him at his apartment, they found several marijuana plants inside, leading to a distribution beef. That’s one way to harsh his mellow — not that he seemed too mellow in the first place.

Location: 1130 Cancun CourtSummary: The two victims, a 32 year old male and a 26 year old female reported being assaulted at the Western Terrace Apartments after a verbal confrontation with the arrestee. The suspect allegedly was in a verbal altercation with the female for sitting on the stairwell. The male victim intervened and the suspect allegedly took a “wooden Native American spiritual stick” from the male victim and proceeded to assault the male and female victim. As a result the male victim reportedly suffered multiple contusions, a bruised lung and a fractured rib. The female victim suffered multiple bruises.
The officers conducted followup based on information provided and were able to locate the suspect. The suspect was identified as Parris Mathis, a 22 year old male. Mr. Mathis was taken into custody at his apartment.
In addition, the suspect’s apartment was searched and several marijuana plants were recovered. Information was obtained leading to a subsequent arrest for distribution of marijuana.
