Our post about the abuse heaped on USA Today reporter Lindsay Jones after she asked Peyton Manning about a controversial incident during his college days at his retirement press conference earlier this week prompted plenty of responses.
Most readers criticized the use of sexually offensive slurs hurled at Jones over Twitter, although plenty of folks continue to believe that Manning’s farewell to football wasn’t an appropriate venue for her question.
At the same time, plenty of folks applauded Jones’s journalistic integrity even as they expressed dismay at the reaction it spawned.

Absolutely terrible using words like that about a female reporter covering a story. That frankly shows some deep-seated gender issues within the football world…. How misogynistic can you get?! Maybe Peyton is innocent, (I doubt it), but you can’t just put your head in the sand. This is a real story and she had every right to ask the question. Props to her for doing her job. She is a talented reporter and has been covering the Broncos admirably for years. Sorry for ruining your Peyton Party…but try to cut out the hate speech against women.
