The shocking arrest of former Arapahoe County Sheriff Pat Sullivan on suspicion of trying to trade meth for sex drew a series of strong responses from readers.
Here’s a comment from someone who feels Sullivan deserves credit and compassion despite the current charges.
Tony writes:
As someone who grew up in Littleton with Pat and his family, I want to say that none of this changes the fact that Pat was a great person who spent years of his life serving the community. I was in middle-school at Newton, about a block and half from Eugene Thompson when we saw the clips of Pat driving his big Jeep into the line of fire, grabbing his wounded officer, and driving through the fence onto Arapahoe. My heart goes out to him and his family, and I apologize to them for the fact that Pat lived in a community where he surely had to suppress any homosexual tendencies he might have had throughout his life in order to be Sheriff.
