Most burglaries are committed with a motive of stealing things.

But that apparently wasn’t the case when it came to a home in Jefferson County.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the burglars who broke into a residence on the 8700 block of South Jellison Court sometime between April 1 and April 10 “were not interested in stealing any of the property…. They appeared interested in causing as much damage as possible.”

If so, they did pretty well on that score. The JCSO estimates the cost of making things right at $225,000 — $175,000 worth of destruction to the building itself, mostly from water damage, plus $50,000 to replace items inside the joint that were trashed.
