Steve Minturn identified as dead man in City Pub fight — but cause of death still a mystery

Yesterday, we told you about a fight at City Pub that ended with a man dead — although Denver police couldn’t immediately determine whether he died as a result of injuries sustained during the brawl or from some other reason.

Now, the autopsy is complete and the man has been identified as Steve Minturn, 41. But Denver Chief Deputy Coroner Michelle Weiss-Samaras says the results of the autopsy are pending further study. In her words, “Toxicology is out, and so are microscopic slides, and until they come back, we can’t make a determination on the death.”

How long might it take to know for certain? “We don’t have our own lab, so toxicology reports go out of state,” she notes. “So it could be four, five, six weeks depending — or it could be sooner.”

Until then, the reason Minturn is dead will officially remain a mystery.
