The city’s been busy erasing outdoor art that appears to violate the Denver Revised Municipal Code regarding signage. If only it were as ardent about enforcing the rules when it comes to clearly commercial ventures.
According to the city’s zoning code, real estate signs cannot be over six feet “from the surface.” But that hasn’t stopped the developer of this plot at 36th and Quivas from placing his sign high in the air — well above the legal limits. Nor has the sign presaging the lot’s glowing future discouraged small boys (far left), who cannot resist playing on piles of dirt littered with construction debris.
