The owners of the Westminster Mall — once an epicenter of metro commerce that has suffered in the shadow of the newer, slicker FlatIrons Mall in Broomfield — are suing the city for allegedly damaging the property’s marketability after the city declared it blighted.
As the Denver Post reports, Westminster Mall Co. filed suit in District Court Thursday, claiming “the city wants to demolish the 33-year-old mall and resurrect it as a retail, office and residential complex in order to increase sales-tax revenues.”
It’s no surprise that the city thinks the ghost-town shopping mall at 88th and Sheridan/Highway 36 needs a makeover, though. Take our depressing photo tour:
