Bedrockk’s debut full-length showcases an admirable ability on the band’s part to concoct a unique blend of mellow dubstep, reggae, electronica and even some dancehall. David Marquess’s smoky, passionate vocals and soft guitar riffs on songs like “Diamond in the Night” and “Streets Are Shinin” balance nicely with the more upbeat, hip-hop-inflected “Eclipse Philosophy.” The electro beats border on traditional guitar rock, as though Bedrockk were reaching for a heavier style, but the band never digresses so far that you forget you’re listening to dance music. Get Born is a promising release from an emerging act that traverses a variety of genres with relative ease.
